Carlton Police Department Scam Alert Notification
The Carlton Police Department would like to warn citizens about a phone scam that began today, January 27, 2025, in the Carlton area.
This scam involves an individual calling residents advising them that the caller is a Police Officer with the Carlton Police Department and stating that the resident missed a scheduled jury duty date. The individual may ask for personal information or request payment. No money should ever be paid over the phone, especially in the form of gift cards or money orders, etc., and no personal information should be provided over the phone.
Citizens should contact the Carlton Police Department via email with the details of the call and copies of any recorded conversations.

The phone number that has been showing up on the resident's caller ID is 503-434-6500. (This number actually belongs to YCOM which is the Yamhill County Emergency Services Dispatch phone number. Do not call this number back.)
Your course of action in these types of situations is to hang up and to not engage in conversation with these individuals.
This response would be the best course of action in any suspected scam phone call or scam email.
