🚦 Start & Rollout Details and Course Info!
- Line up at 9:45 AM sharp at West Grant in the street closure. Fast elite women and fast age group women with the Elite men up front! Women can set the tempo, rule is always to “Dont be a Dick” at the front and ride smooth and pass with care.
- It's a smaller 250 250-person event, and enough hills after mile 6 to string you out.
- We’ll begin with a 2.8-mile slow neutral rollout from town with a Carlton Police Leadout—no passing, relaxed pace.
- Taillights are suggested with Carlton Police as a leadout to the gravel on Mcbride Cemetary rd.
- At mile 2.8, the course transitions to gravel with a right. The pace will naturally open up, and racing will begin after 75% of the group is on gravel. Please stay to the right, as the first flagger turn to the left is 2 miles ahead. We all know how the start of an event can go, with eager racers looking for an edge.
- Always ride to the right of gravel or road as a car can be coming at you at any speed and we want to make sure cars and trucks can get around you.
- First significant hill mile 6 first lap for 3 miles, and first downhill mile 9-10.4 Long course will see this again. Most shaded decent that is pretty, and please stay right is mile 12 to the aid station at mile 18.5.
- With the gravel more chunky than Pendleton and more like Oregon Coast Gravel Epic 45mm is what I ride at 190 lbs and average gravel cyclist. Some of the roads have brand new gravel! Some, not so much! 67% Gravel
Special Rules/Hard Cut-off Long Course and Safety Tips READ THIS!
- If riding before or after the event, please ride single file and use a taillight.
- Yield to Traffic always. Course will have chaulk and signage, and we are prepared to mark the loop as the event is in progress as well. Download the GPX File to your Garmin or use the RIde with GPS app. https://ridewithgps.com/events/342796-sasquatch-duro
- A taillight and a small headlight are always recommended for visibility during the event, especially around hard-to-see corners. With 250 or so event participants count, this event is smaller in nature, but as you all know, anything can happen.
- Mile 18 (Long and short) and mile 46(Long) NO RACING coming into the aid and mandatory under 5MPH to allow riders to enter and exit or transition to the North Side of the course. A disqualification will happen if you do not do this, and large format 20x30 signs will be placed at 200 and 100 meters prior to this spot. This is for everyones safety
- Mile 27 (All) and 55 (Long) turning with flaggers onto PIKE heading back to the aid station is narrow pavement, and all must ride single file and pay attention to your backside as when transitioning to the aid station again, you never have protection when making a left from your backside. Never assume!
- One more SLOW ahead sign will be placed at mile 30 on your way to the finish or lap point (All riders) and 60 again (Long route) before a flagger position that is really challenging to see crossing Oakridge Rd. You will be coming at speed to a stop sign, so please slow down when you see the Orange 36x36 Roll up. Slow down and never assume the cars have been stopped.
- Long Course Cut off or better said we will move you to the short course at Mile 30 at Aid station, lap one at 1:15 pm or 9.2 MPH to leave the aid station.
- If you do not make it to the aid station in time, the aid station will place two green stickers on your plate to ride the 6 miles to the finish, bypassing the long course split at mile 34.
- Long Course Split at Mile 34: A 20x30 white sign will say Long Course, and a Right turn will follow, followed by another Mile 34 20x30 on a barricade confirming Long Course only. All other riders proceed straight 2 miles to the remote finish to remove their timing chips and ride back to Carlton 2.8 miles.
- Please know that this long course sign will be up quite a long time, so all of you fast people, please do not take the long course split on lap two as the Flaggers wont know who is who and are only concerned with helping stop cars.
- Adventure Medics will be at the Aid Station and on course. Medical for scrapes and cuts back in Carlton as well. Sag Support on course for those having a Mechanical.
- There is a Porta Potty at the aid station and the remote finish along with water at the remote finish. Please return your timing chip at this place and always watch for and yield for traffic.
- A 200-meter sign to go and 1 mile to go will be placed by E8 Timing
We can’t wait to see you out there for a weekend of grit, gravel, and good vibes. Let’s make it legendary.
