The small bridge on East Main Street crossing Hawn Creek is in need of a beam replacement as one beam has failed. Traffic is diverted on the bridge to relieve the load on the failed beam. Yamhill County Public Works are finishing up the temporary shoring of the bridge beam in order to fully open the bridge. The permanent steel beam is projected to be installed in February.
Please contact Yamhill County Public works at 503-434-7515 with any questions or concerns.
The City of Carlton is pleased to announce the completion of its lead service line inventory, fulfilling the requirements of the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) and the Oregon Health Authority (OHA). This inventory was conducted using the statistical method outlined by OHA, and no lead service lines (LSLs), galvanized requiring replacement (GRRs), or lead status unknown services were found. We remain committed to safeguarding public health and maintaining safe drinking water for all residents.
- For more information on the Lead and Copper Rules, including the statistical methods used by the City, please visit the OHA’s LCRR website: https://www.oregon.gov/oha/PH/HEALTHYENVIRONMENTS/DRINKINGWATER/RULES/Pages/LCRR.aspx

Carlton residents- The city does not have or provide a leaf pick up service at your residence. Please do not put your leaves in the street as this clogs storm drains and leads to flooded streets and sidewalks, and even damages to private property. Give Recology a call at 503-472-3176 about their Green Waste Cart for yard debris. Recycle your yard debris instead of burn or throw away!
Every day in public works brings a set of unexpected challenges, and you'd be surprised at what we encounter when we dive into our storm drains!
Imagine fallen leaves, seemingly harmless, clogging the path of rushing water, or sediment accumulating over time, slowly but surely blocking the flow. That’s why our trusty vac trailer is a vital part of our routine. It's not just about keeping things tidy; it's about preventing those frustrating moments when heavy rains threaten to overflow our streets. We work diligently to avoid pictures of flooded storm drains.
But then there are the true surprises—like the one we encountered on October 30th in the Carlton Crest area. As our team got to work, we unearthed a monstrous root ball that had taken up residence in the storm drain! It was quite the spectacle and a stark reminder of how nature can throw a wrench into our best efforts. You can only imagine the jigsaw puzzle of operations and maintenance that led to that drain not functioning as it should.
Have you ever wondered what happened to the electric vehicle (EV) chargers at City Hall?
When the Civic Center was constructed, the essential infrastructure for EV chargers was carefully integrated into the design. Following this, the City successfully obtained grant funding specifically for the installation of these chargers.
Exciting news ahead: The City is currently collaborating with Blink and PGE to ensure that these electric chargers are up and running by June 2025. Stay tuned for more updates on this green initiative!
