Utility Worker I
(Full-time position, 40 hours/week, starting at $21.99 per hour, FLSA Non-Exempt)
Annual salary under review and based on experience; plus benefits, including vacation, sick leave, and holiday accruals.
GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision of the Public Works Director, performs the operations and maintenance activities of public works functions including water meter systems, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, water and wastewater treatment systems, and storm drain systems; and related to the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of streets, parks, and facilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education and Experience:
- One (1) year experience in the maintenance and operation of water meters, water distribution systems, and wastewater collection systems and general maintenance and construction work.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent and continuing education in a related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted for some education at the discretion of the City.
- Special Qualifications:
- Possession or the ability to obtain state certification in Water Distribution Level I (within 3 years of date of hire)
- Possession or the ability to obtain a state certification in Wastewater Collection Level I (within 3 years of date of hire)
- Possession or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire: Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Possession or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire: American Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification
