Think less “formal meeting” and more “come hang out, learn something useful, and maybe let the kids check out a police car.”

📅 Date: August 4, 2026
⏰ Time: 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m.
📍 Location: Carlton Lower Park

National Night Out is about building the kind of community where neighbors know each other, families feel connected, and public safety is a shared effort.

Local Elections are Open!

Get Involved: Local Elections & Serving Your Community 🗳️

Local government plays a vital role in shaping the future of our community—and it all starts with the people who step up to serve. As we look ahead to upcoming local elections, we encourage residents to consider becoming a candidate for public office. Candidate applications are open now through mid-August.

Serving in a local role—whether on the city council, planning commission, or other advisory boards—is a meaningful way to make a difference. These positions help guide decisions on important issues such as infrastructure, public safety, parks, community development, and more.

Why consider running for office?

  • 🏡 Help shape the future of your community
  • 🤝 Represent the voices and needs of your neighbors
  • 🌱 Contribute your ideas, experience, and perspective
  • 📣 Be part of important local decision-making

You don’t need prior political experience—just a willingness to learn, collaborate, and serve. If you care about your community and want to make a positive impact, we encourage you to explore the opportunity.

Interested in running or learning more?
Information about candidate filing deadlines, requirements, and open positions is available on the city's website here: Elections | Carlton OR or by contacting Carlton's election official, Aimee Amerson at aamerson [at] ci.carlton.or.us (aamerson[at]ci[dot]carlton[dot]or[dot]us)

Your voice matters—whether you choose to run, volunteer, or simply stay informed and vote. Together, we can continue to build a strong and vibrant community.

Voluntary Odd Even Watering schedule
every drop counts

Water Conservation Reminder: Voluntary Odd/Even Watering Schedule 💧

As we head into the warmer months, we encourage all residents to help conserve water by following our odd/even watering schedule and adopting simple water-saving habits. Informational door hangers are also being placed on homes in Carlton this month by the C-Y Lions Club that include more information on these voluntary, but important actions. Plus, less water use saves $$$$ - bonus!

How the schedule works:

  • Homes with odd-numbered addresses: Water on odd-numbered days
  • Homes with even-numbered addresses: Water on even-numbered days

This system helps reduce overall demand on our water system, ensuring a reliable supply for everyone while supporting responsible use of this valuable resource.

Easy ways to conserve water:

  • 🌱 Water early in the morning or late evening to reduce evaporation
  • 🚿 Fix leaks promptly- small drips can add up quickly
  • 🌼 Choose drought-tolerant plants and landscape wisely
  • 🧽 Use a broom instead of a hose to clean driveways and sidewalks
  • 🚗 Wash vehicles using a hose with a shutoff nozzle

Every small effort makes a difference. By working together, we can protect our water supply and keep our community thriving all season long.

Thank you for doing your part! 💙

A Friendly Reminder About Lawn Maintenance and Trailer Parking
lawn mowing needed

Keeping our community safe, attractive, and accessible is a shared responsibility. Two common issues that can impact neighborhood appearance and public safety are overgrown lawns and long-term trailer parking on public streets.

Keep Lawns Mowed for Safety and Community Pride

Regular lawn maintenance does more than improve curb appeal. Tall grass and weeds can create hiding places for pests such as rodents and insects, increase fire risks during dry weather, and obstruct visibility for pedestrians and drivers at intersections and driveways. Keeping lawns neatly mowed helps maintain a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for everyone in the neighborhood.

Travel Trailers Must Not Be Parked on Public Streets for More Than 72 Hours

Travel trailers, RVs, and similar vehicles should not be parked on public streets for more than 72 consecutive hours. Extended street parking can create visibility hazards for motorists, reduce available parking for residents and visitors, impede street maintenance activities, and complicate emergency vehicle access. Moving or relocating trailers within the required timeframe helps keep roadways safe and accessible for all users.

Thank you for doing your part to help maintain a clean, safe, and attractive community. Small efforts by each resident make a big difference for everyone.
