PRESS RELEASE: Downtown Burglaries

Downtown Burglaries
On December 27, 2022, at about 3:15 a.m. members from the Carlton Police Department responded to investigate a series of break-ins of some of the businesses on W. Main St. in the downtown area. There were 8 different locations that the suspect randomly targeted.
Carlton Police Officers subsequently worked on the investigation and quickly identify a possible suspect within a few hours. At about 4 p.m. on December 27, 2022, Officers arrested the sole individual responsible for the break-ins without incident. Several of the items stolen were recovered along with burglary tools that the suspect used during the break-ins. The suspect remained cooperative throughout the investigation. The investigation revealed that the suspect was looking for money to support his fentanyl addiction.
The subject was identified as 23-year-old, Carlton Resident, Charles Cameron Johnson.
Johnson was subsequently taken to the Yamhill County Correctional Facility regarding a number of charges including Attempted Burglary 1st Degree x 1, Burglary 2nd Degree x 6, Attempted Burglary 2nd Degree x 1, Possession of Burglar Tools or Theft Device x 8, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon x1.
