Traffic School

Traffic School Books

A traffic diversion course, often referred to as “traffic school,” may be offered by the Judge or the Violations Bureau when specific conditions are met. Once you’ve successfully completed the course, the violation(s) tied to your citation may be dismissed — meaning they will not appear on your driving record.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • You do not hold a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

  • You have not received a citation within the past two years.

  • You have not completed a traffic diversion course within the past two years.

  • The cited offense is not higher than a Class B violation.

  • The citation is not for a cell-phone violation.

What Happens If You Qualify?

If you meet the qualifications:

  • The presumptive fine listed on your citation will be waived.

  • A diversion fee will be assessed by the Court per the Violations Bureau schedule or Judge’s order.

  • Upon completion of the diversion course, your citation(s) may be dismissed and will not appear on your driving record.
