The City of Carlton currently has one (1) vacancy on the City Council open for appointment with a term expiring on December 31, 2022 and is soliciting applications to fill that position.
The Carlton City Council is the governing body of the City of Carlton. Carlton’s governing body is composed of the mayor and six council members. The mayor is elected at large for a two-year term while council members are elected for four-year terms. The mayor and council members do not receive a salary for their service. The mayor presides over Council deliberations and votes on all questions before the Council. The mayor is responsible for preserving order, enforcing the rules of the Council, and determining the order of business under the rules of the Council.
The City Council upholds the Mission of the City of Carlton, which is to safeguard and enhance the vitality and livability of the community by providing essential services with professionalism and integrity.
This is a volunteer position, and the appointment will become effective immediately upon approval of the Mayor and Council’s selection on December 7, 2021. Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM at the Carlton City Hall, Council Chambers, 191 E. Main Street, Carlton, Oregon.
