Mayor and City Councilor Open Positions
November 5, 2024 Biennial General Election
The Carlton City Council consists of a Mayor and six (6) Councilors. The Mayor is elected for two (2) year terms and City Councilors are elected as at-large positions for four (4) year terms. The Mayor and City Council positions are non-paid, voluntary, non-partisan positions.
The following positions are up for election on the November 5, 2024 Biennial General Election for the City of Carlton:
- Mayor - currently held by Linda Watkins
- City Councilor (At-Large) - currently held by Grant Erickson
- City Councilor (At-Large) - currently held by Kevin Skipper
- City Councilor (At-Large) - currently held by Guilherme Brandao
Elected officials consider the formulation of city policy to be their primary responsibility. Serving as an elected official requires a significant time commitment and can be a rewarding and enriching experience. The decisions of the officials produce long-term results upon the community. Should you or someone you know be interested in running for City Council, please be aware any person holding elective office in the City of Carlton must be:
- Eighteen (18) years of age or older;
- A registered voter in the State of Oregon;
- A current, legal resident of the City of Carlton continuously during the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the election.

The first day to file for the 2024 Election is June 5, 2024.
The last day to file is August 27, 2024.
It is recommended to have all submissions due by August 20, 2024 to ensure adequate processing time and ensure being on the ballot .

- Special Elections: May 21, 2024
Nonpartisan Offices: Mayor and Council positions are placed before the voters at biennial general elections. The Mayor's position is nominated at large for a two-year term. The City Council has six members nominated at large for a four-year term. A qualified candidate is at least 18 years of age, a registered voter in the State of Oregon, and a current, legal resident of the City of Carlton continuously during the last 12 months immediately preceding an election.
Carlton has one ballot drop box location open during elections. It is located in the front parking lot of City Hall at 191 East Main Street.
