In October of 2016, Carlton Police Department obtained a DUII enforcement grant from Oregon Impact. Throughout the month of January, 2017, Carlton Police Department performed 11 traffic stops, resulting in the issuance of 4 warnings and 7 citations.
Carlton Police Department will be deploying officers throughout the remainder of the month of February, 2017, for the sole purpose of DUII enforcement.
This high visibility enforcement will consist of extra time on the streets aggressively seeking out impaired drivers, and is meant to deter people from driving after they’ve been drinking or using controlled substances, including marijuana.
Officer Jake Blair said, “With the legalization of marijuana in Oregon, it’s important for drivers to remember that driving under the influence of marijuana is dangerous and still constitutes driving while impaired under Oregon law.”
